FOUNDATIONS

Foundations is a program (ages 9-12) for students seeking a more intense opportunity to dance while fully glorifying God. Foundations is a two-fold dance training and discipleship program. Members of Foundations will be introduced to dance as worship and ministry, and technically trained: striving for excellence that displays His glory! (Open to Histown dancers that fulfill the age and additional class requirements *. Must submit an application for approval.)

Matthew 7:24-25

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.”

Our goal is train up the next generation encouraging them to love God fiercely and follow Him courageously. We believe God wants to use dance in His strategy of discipleship to reach all nations with the gospel before He returns! (Matthew. 28:18-20). Foundations will not only create building blocks of faith for the future (Proverbs 22:6), but also give dancers the opportunity to be a light to all those around them now! (1 Timothy 4:12) God’s love is the driving force behind everything we do. Dancers will learn how they are loved by God, and how to share that love with others both on and off stage.

We do this by training and nurturing dancers in a God-fearing environment and making sure the influences we are allowing into their dance experience will encourage them towards following Christ. That will be the focus of this year. In coming years as dancers continue to mature, catch vision, and are trained and equipped for ministry, we will take them into the world that needs the light of Christ. In Foundations, dancers start learning these concepts so that they are ready later when it’s time to be sent out! We are helping these young dancers to build on a strong foundation in both dance and in Christ that will stand the test of time. We are excited to see these dancers grow in skill and in the Lord this semester as they build strong foundations!

Classes are held 10am-12pm on Saturday. This is a performing company. During the fall and spring semesters, dancers will have opportunities to perform locally as well as attend and perform at other events like the Dance Revolution Convention in North Carolina, Orlando and Dallas. Cost is $100 a month.

* Weekly class requirements for ages 8-12 includes one hour of ballet, one hour of jazz or contemporary along with at least one other elective class (i.e. jazz, ballet, contemporary, Acro, leaps & turns, hip- hop, musical theater, modern, tap, etc.)
